Studio Brief 1 - Study Task 3 - Line and Mark

This was a really fun and exciting day. We were given a big list of different categories to visually research and explore that we would enjoy and stay interested with for a number of weeks. I found it hard just picking one, they all seemed really exciting. After going to the library and searching through different books I decided to go for 'Deep Sea Diving'.

After drawing my an octopus in fine liner I thought I would give it a go using pencil to do a really detailed drawings. However, I soon lost interest with drawing this and wanted to do something more creative.

For this I began doing an ink drawing but then I accidently spilt some water on the page but really liked the outcome so decided to continue and do it all like that.

I then found myself becoming obsessed with jellyfish. I tried drawing them with different types of media. I particularly like the ink ones. I tried making them like the octopus one I did before. I really like how the light parts shine through and I think that the ink works well in illustrating the light floaty texture of the tentacles.

This is my favourite out of all the illustrations that I have done for this task. I think that the ink and the pen works well together. I found it fun to create with the unknowingness of where the ink was going to go and then over the top with the pen make sense of the ink lines. Overall I find it ascetically pleasing and think that this could become something. I definitely want to try and use this technique in the future.
