Our task was to bring in 4 images representing: Something man made or structural, something natural or organic, full figure image of someone doing something and a portrait of a face. I preferred this week as I like working from some sort of reference whether that's an image or from life. These were the images that I chose:
I began by drawing a detailed study of a bird. I think I need to be more confident with line as I kept going over and over the same lines.
Next I used a brush pen. I really really like using brush pen as it forces me to be more confident with my lines. Though in this drawing then pen is really running out so need to buy a new one!
Here I have done a continuous line drawing of the bird, I don't think that this looks as good as using the brush pen.
I'm not used to drawing detailed drawings of people so thought I would give it a good go. I think that the green background creates a good contrast. I think that I need to be a bit braver with my drawing and make the shadows and lines a bit darker as it would help contrast the light areas better.
Because the pen ink stained through to the other side of the page I decided to still use it and did a blind drawing over the top of it. I think that this blind drawing went well as all the features are all in the right sort of area. I find blind drawing helpful to really look at what I am drawing.
Next I thought I would contrast my other drawings of the face by doing a very simple line drawing only drawing in the main key lines.
I'm not sure why but I felt like trying a blind drawing using two pens to see what it would look like. Just felt like playing around a bit with it. I think that the bit of colour actually looks quite good and makes the simple blind drawing look quite interesting.
First I decided to do a continuous line drawing of the converse shoe with my left hand to see what kind of drawing I could produce. I think that it has gone quite successful though the heel of the shoe does bend too much.
Next, I did a blind drawing I feel that doing a blind drawing does help to really know what you are drawing as you can't take your eyes off the subject so you really learn where everything should be.
From the canoe drawing of using two colours I thought I would try using the two colours again as I do really like the two together. I do like the drawing however I think that the composition should've been more to the right so that the bottom of the shoe wouldn't of been cut off.
