In this module I feel I have really developed on coming up with lots of ideas and getting them all out onto the page a lot quicker and in a better and clearer way. I think it really helped working on large development sheets.
For the Initials brief I really thought it was a great brief
to begin the course with as it really gave the opportunity to get to know
someone in the class. Overall I was pleased with the amount of development work
that I produced. I feel that I did try and experiment with
media. I think that the contrast of the black paper and white chalk worked
well; however the chalk has smudged slightly which makes it look less clean and
crisp. I do like the use of masking tape as I think that it managed to
emphasize the bones though slightly takes away the main focus off the cat. I'm
not too happy with the final outcome I don’t think that it looks very
professional, especially after seeing the standard and quality of everyone else's
work.
Next, I feel that my biggest weakness within the whole module was the Photoshop brief. I really don't have confidence when using Photoshop I still feel like I need to work on it a bit more. Looking at other peers work I feel that using Photoshop can really improve your work which gives me the motivation to want to keep trying at it. Another one of my weaknesses I would say my time management skills. For example in the ‘A Day In The Life’ brief at first I really
did struggle and found it very hard understanding what the
article was talking about but after talking to Matt I broke down the article to
just the key points and mainly focused on the Pussy Riots in Russia and after
watching a video on iplayer it gave me so much inspiration but unfortunately by
that point I was too late to put enough time into producing a good final piece.
.
Furthermore I believe my strongest brief was the 'Matter of Opinion’ brief; I managed my time better and was pleased with the amount of development work that I created and my experimentation with media. I think i really thought about the format in this too. Whereas usually i leave the format and do that at the very end but this time in my
development work I tested out different ways in which I would place the format
and how it would look as a finished piece. After doing the peer
reviews many people suggested I should of used a better quality
paper and now looking back i really wish i did as the paper has crinkled up a
bit and think it would've looked a lot more professional on a better quality
paper.
Overall, I have really enjoyed this module and really think I have learnt a lot about myself and my work. I feel like in the next module I can learn from my mistakes and weaknesses in this module and improve. I'm really happy that i can see my work developing throughout the projects and that really excites me.
