Studio Brief 1: Initial Brief

In this 2 week based project we were all given a sheet with a number of questions on for us to answer about ourselves. For example: If we were to go to a fancy dress party what would we go as. We came back with our answers and were then put into pairs and spoke to eachother in length about our answers and generally got to know eachother. After that we found out our task was to use your partners answer sheets and from the conversation that we had with our partner use their initials to create a final poster.

Here are some photographs of my development work. We were told to begin by folding A2 paper down so it divided the page down into separate rectangles so it made it easier to show my ideas.

Here is my very first development sheets just getting the very first initial ideas down. 

Next I did two separate sheets one for each of her initials. (L and D). 

Next chose our favourite 5 ideas and enlarged them up into A5 images. We then got into small groups and spoke about the five images and what the ideas behind them were. I found this to be really helpful getting feedback and thoughts from other peers in my class and to see what their ideas for their work were.

After that we then narrowed the ideas to the two that we would be using and started to develop on them and tried and tested different mediums and techniques for them to see what looks best. Throughout doing this I asked around for the thoughts and opinions of others in my class as I always think its uselful to see what others think and to get a range of opinions.

Here I decided to try and see what black paper would be like to use and tried out a few different media's on it.  

I then decided to repetitively draw different cat faces in my sketchbook to help me decide what the cat character would look like. I think doing this really helped to visually get my ideas down and putting them all next to each other rather than just dotted around made it a lot easier to look at my ideas clearly. 

This is a photo of my final end resulting poster. To finish off we presented our work up on the walls and we around the class to see what each other had done and left a little note next to it with a drawing of a tomato on to who's work we were most drawn too and they would win a tin of chopped tomatoes.

Here are my feedback sheets that peers in my class filled in. The general feedback was that they thought it was a bold looking poster and they like the contrast of the black and white. However the fish bones distract from the cats face a bit. Which I completely agree with.
